Wooden decking and a Nordic spa – Colomiers

Client brief  : 

« We would like a welcoming reception area to invite our friends with a small plunge pool»

Understanding the client brief and creating a design which gives all the features they require together with an efficient use of space and the optimisation of all the existing features of the garden was our goal. 

Garden design concept :

When a swimming pool is too big but a water feature is not enough a Nordic plunge pool is just the right fit in a low maintenance garden. 

Set into a vast wooden deck set at two heights to give access to the water, the beautiful Nordic pool supplied by Storvatt provides a perfect centrepiece to a large outdoor living space. 

The existing vegetation on site blocked the central part of the space and prevented circulation and all the views. Removing the old hedge opened up the space and new wooden panelling provides privacy for the pool area 

A bespoke pergola provides shade for the living space and will carry climbing plants. The planting beds surrounding the deck have incorporated the plants our client wanted to preserve and a careful selection of new plants have been added for year round interest. 

Landscape lighting provides a subtle glow in the evening creating a great atmosphere for the garden. 

Site work :

This site had good access but there were a few underground issues to resolve before landscaping could start. Removing the hornbeam hedge was a revealing moment in real terms. 

Careful coordination of all the aspects of the design needed planning and organisation with several contractors involved on site.
